"Can I keep chickens?" gets asked at the counter, on the phone, and on Facebook. Staff answer it from memory, every time.
A small city's code runs to more than a thousand pages online. Residents do not read it. They call, or they guess.
An answer from memory is right until the ordinance changes. Then it is confidently wrong, on the city's behalf.
What it does with a question

It reads the whole code.
We load your published code as it stands on your code library. Every section, with its official link. Nothing is typed in by hand.

It finds the sections that apply.
The question is matched against the code text and a plain-English gloss of each section, so "shed" finds "accessory structure".

It answers from those sections only.
It quotes the ordinance and names the section. Every citation is then checked against the section it names. On our 61-question test set, 92% of answers passed that check on every citation.

It says so when the code does not cover it.
Ten questions in that test set had no answer in the code. It flagged all ten. A question that needs a person, like a water leak, is sent to City Hall instead of answered.

Is this legal advice?
No. It says what the code says and names the section. It does not tell anyone what to do, and it will not argue a case. Every page carries that line, and the answers are written to hold to it.
What if it gives a wrong answer?
Every answer shows the sections it rests on, linked to the official text, so anyone can check it in one click. When the code does not cover a question, it says so rather than guessing. Staff see every answer and every thumbs-down.
What happens when we pass a new ordinance?
Tell us. We pull the new text from your code library, staff press rebuild, and every answer built on the old text is retired. Same day.
Does our IT department need to do anything?
Paste one script tag into the city website. If you have a web person, it is a five-minute job. If you do not, we will do it with you on a call.
